ONE NIGHT IN NEW YORK CITY
Lara Beilby

A note came down from Above, delivered by Samantha.

"Vincent,
When are you coming Above? The stars are bright tonight, and the concert in the park and fireworks display is not to be missed...

Catherine"

After sunset, Catherine heard a noise on her balcony, and she opened the doors. She had been off this July Fourth, and had packed a romantic picnic for two.

"Hello Vincent, would you like to come in?"

"Yes. What is that wonderful smell?" The raspy voiced lion man stepped in, his nose a twitching.

"I got some Kentucky Fried Chicken and mashed potatoes and green beans and corn on the cob and a couple slices of cheese cake from the corner market."

Catherine embraced the man she loved, looking up into his eyes. "It's a surprise for you... and the fireworks will be visible from the balcony and I can get the radio on for the concert."

"You don't want to go to the vent near the Band Shell tonight?"

"With the cold I am getting over I thought it would be better just to stay above."

"You're right. It would not be a good idea to spread it to the others Below..."

The couple spread the delicious meal out on a small table as the concert played on the radio.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the Eighteen Twelve Overture..."

As the music started Vincent glanced up higher for a moment and then clambered up above using his chair. "Catherine come up here, I will not let you fall."

"Alright." She reached up and soon was in his arms again.

"This is how I see The City, Catherine, and I am glad I have you to share it with me.
