fandom has a tradition of helping others when we get together. The
charity we've
selected for our 2014 gathering is Open
Your Heart to the Hungry and
Homeless. Open Your Heart provides grants to area food and shelter providers which total over $780,000 each year. OYH doesn't provide food or shelter directly, but instead helps organizations that do. Homeless shelters and food shelves understandably spend as much of the funds they receive as possible on food and other direct service to clients, but that means they often come up short on other needs, such as roof repair, a new refrigerator, or new beds.
