What does my registration fee cover? It covers two days of fun in the convention space, including two breakfasts, two lunches, and two dinners, and costs related to the rental of the convention rooms, as well as a con tote and digital conzine.
Why isn’t convention hotel information available yet? Negotiations with the con hotel are complete BUT the hotel works on a 10-months-ahead contracting basis. We don’t want to announce hotel details until the contract is signed, i.e., at the end of September 2022.
Why is this convention being held for only two days, and during the week instead of over a long weekend? We are none of us getting any younger, yet planning a con takes a lot of time and effort for the small con teams who create these events as a labor of love for fandom! Plus, hotel costs (room rates, catering, space rental, etc.) keep rising. We decided that we could pack a lot into two full days of convention time while keeping things simpler than in the past, and without having to compete for meeting space with weddings and other events that usually occur on weekends. Don’t worry, we’ll still have plenty of time together on the add-on days!
How can I join the con’s Facebook page? Once
you’ve registered for the con, you can be added to the con’s
Facebook page. While earlier cons’ Facebook pages were set up to
provide information about the convention to any fan interested, we
plan to impart all the basic information a fan might need directly on
the Batbland con page, which doesn’t depend on Facebook membership
for access. Since the purpose of the con’s Facebook page is to
discuss matters relating only to those who are con-registered, we’ve
kept it private so those fans can participate in discussions about
add-ons, find roomies, etc. – things not of general fandom
interest. We will also distribute that pertinent information by
e-mail for con-registered fans who are not on Facebook. Is there a theme for the banquet? Yes! In keeping with the name of the convention, wear something that alludes to your love of Beauty and the Beast lasting “For All My Life and Forever”! It can be anything that resonates with you – a crystal necklace, a shawl with a rose print, a Tunnel-inspired outfit… It can be as simple or elaborate as feels good to you. We each come to B&B for our own reasons, and take from it what we value most, so there’s no “wrong” way to honor the theme!
When will add-on day options and the opportunity to purchase con tees be announced? These will be announced in the spring of 2023. We can’t predict admission fees or transportation costs with accuracy until 2023 rates are available.
What can I do to help? Check out the other sections of this page for ideas! Your contributions could be anything from bringing a gift card (Target, WalMart or Kohl’s) to give to the convention charity, to creating something for the conzine, to doing a panel at the con, to donating something for the tote bags…or all of the above! If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do (help with set-up or assist during the charity auction or…you name it), let us know. |
