|Greetings Beauty and the Beast Family... |
With Catherine and Vincent's Excellent Adventure" but five months away, we have lots to tell you and lots to do! First of all, our "Vermont connection'' Marilyn Howard, who has already done so much to facilitate the planning of our family vacation, has already met with representatives of the Wyndham Burlington Hotel, located on the shores of Lake Champlain. Our hotel is located In the heart of downtown Burlington and according to Marilyn, is just ten minutes from Burlington International Airport.
The hotel itself has many nice features... indoor pool, whirlpool, fitness center and gift shop. Dining options include the Oak Street Cafe, Lobby Bar and coffee cart in the lobby.
Guest room features include: alarm clock, radio with CD, in-room cable movies, Sony Play Station, coffee maker, Direct High Speed Internet access, hair dryer, ironing board/iron, pillowtop mattress, shower massage, daily newspaper and cordless two-line telephone with voice mail and data port. Refrigerators are also available at $10.00 per day. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the airport.
Marilyn has negotiated the special room rates for July 6th thru 12th as follows: $149.00 for single or double, $159.00 for triple and $169 for quads with an 11% tax. All Saturday reservations require a two night stay. Marilyn has toured several of the rooms and was quite impressed.
You may make your reservations by calling the following: 1-802-6586500 or toll free 1-800-658-6504. Be sure to let the hotel know you are with the "Beauty and the Beast Convention 2005".
Should you be driving, parking is in the adjacent city garage at $5.50 per day with all day in and out privileges.
In order to have a meeting room for our gathering we have had to set a registration fee of $150.00 per person. I know, sigh, sigh! But for your registration fee, the following will be included:
Use of a large meeting room (comparable to the room size we had in 2004) for our daily activities: Costume Night, the Banquet, our ''Celebrity-less'' Breakfast and Beast Bingo. This room will also accommodate an Orphan's Table and an Art Display if we are able to incorporate these activities.
This fee also includes the following meals... light breakfast Friday and Saturday, daily beverage and snack service both morning and afternoon, dinner and evening snack Friday, Saturday night banquet and our Sunday brunch! You won't go hungry! We are also including the price of your 2005 Gathering souvenir tote bag! All this for the price of your registration fee of $150.00!
Lunch will be on your own but the hotel is conveniently located adjacent to Burlington Town Center, Church Street Market Place (a pedestrian mall - so it's just a few minutes walk to shops restaurants and the lakefront) and of course Ben and Jerry's fabulous "Scoop Shop"!
Lake Champlain offers swimming, fishing, boating and wind surfing for the brave of heart. Diving is also available to visit the underwater preserves in Lake Champlain and there are typically Thursday night concerts in the park at the lake near the hotel.
We are considering as Add-On Activities the following (depending on what you would like to do):
Dinner Cruise on Lake Champlain
Ben and Jerry's Factory Tour
The Vermont Teddy Bear Factory
The Flynn Theater - An eclectic regional performing arts theater
The Shelburne Museum - 45 acres, 37 buildings and 25 structures including a steamboat, lighthouse and round barn.
A day trip to Canada is also an option.
For those who can't fly direct to Burlington, you might want to check into the option of flying into New York and then taking Jet Blue to Burlington. One way fares can be as low as $49.00. If anyone plans to drive to Vermont, directions will be provided later.
Our Gathering activities will include: Costume Party on Friday evening, Banquet on Saturday night and Breakfast on Sunday morning Activities such as videos, panels, etc. will be announced in later flyers.
You must reserve your rooms at the hotel as soon as possible in order for us to get our special rate and meeting room. We also must have a minimum of 53 nights booked to qualify. A registration form with a volunteer section is included with this flyer. We need your help to make this "Family Gathering" happen!
A temporary website will be established shortly with the following address: www.novtekvideo.com/cavea. An additional website will follow later.
Please let us hear back from you as soon as possible with your registration form and volunteer information. If there is a special game, activity or panel that you wish to host, we are anxious to hear about it! Please, help us "Keep the Dream Alive in 2005"!
