Con Add-Ons

For the 2024 BatB con, we are changing things up a little where add-ons are concerned. Since there are an infinite number of attractions and museums in the DC area – truly something for everyone! – we are leaving everybody the freedom to choose their own add-ons. Here are a few ideas to get you started: Tourist info page here at batbland and the Washingtonian's 100 Best Things to do in Washington, DC.

Our hotel is a very easy, flat, 2-block walk to the NOMA-Gallaudet metro station. We will be providing everyone with a metro card pre-loaded with $10, and that can be added onto as needed. The NOMA station is 10 minutes from the National Mall (half an hour's walk). We can all go to the station and travel together for those who are new to the metro.

If you are new to DC, the hop-on hop-off trolley tour is a great way to get a taste of everything the district has to offer, and they have a pick up/drop off at Union Station, which is just one stop from NOMA. You can spend as long as you want at any stop or museum and get right back on the next time the trolley comes along. They have one-day tours, and moonlight tours as well as packages to Arlington National Cemetery. So you will not want for options! They do offer a group rate if we have 15 or more interested. Contact Vicky at vickycodas@gmail.com and we will get you that info. (Note from Laura – I’ve used the hop-on hop-off trolleys in a couple different cities, and have been delighted with them!)

DC Central Kitchen is another idea that we’ve had, especially since a lot of us have loved the cooking demos from WFOL, etc. This is a great volunteer, community service opportunity. If we have enough interest, we can register a group of volunteers for one of our mornings.

If you are interested in seeing a play, Drunk Shakespeare is in town. They have performances Thursday and Tuesday. Again, if there is enough interest, we can look into a group rate.

Uber and Lyft both have a lot of availability in DC and the apps are very easy and straightforward. If you don’t have them already, they really are super simple and would provide you with a way to get literally anywhere you want to go.

We think we can help facilitate most any plan y’all come up with if you reach out to us with sufficient lead time or have accessibility concerns.
