How many anniversaries had they celebrated?

Each April 12th had been special in its way. Now, languid in the candlelight, gentle fingernails trailed through the soft hair trailing down the center of Vincent’s chest. "My Love," his words rumbled from below her fingertips. "I see so much in our love."

She could only nod, her eyes half closed from their pleasure. "Mmm…"Her nose buried in the wealth of his thick golden hair spread across their pillows.

With the pad of his thumb, he stroked her still strong jawline to find the last vestige of that original night. "It’s not solely our soul’s warmth we’ve gained through the years." His clawed fingers spread to comb back her love-tangled hair and Catherine moved into his touch.

"Catherine, each year those we love, people who love us, gather in the spirit of the Tunnels."

Catherine’s gentle hand caught Vincent’s stronger hand as their fingers interwove. She blessed the crest of his knuckles with a press of her lips then she drew these dissimilar hands back in loving regard. "They come to celebrate and play."

Vincent brought their hands to rest on his chest, under her chin. "Their numbers grow each year!"

"Like us, my love, they hug, they laugh, and they mourn." The special couple’s eyes met in understanding that their love, born April 12, 1987, was the love that had grown universally. That date was the genesis of stories shared, friendships forged and lives changed.

April 12th was only the beginning.
