The estate has a secret:some creature to whom locals ascribe a couple of deaths ofmalefactors. And Catherine makes two startling discoveries: theidentity of the creature, and the fact that the estate is almostbankrupt. Her financial straits cause significant problems. Additional Information: "Long Ago and Far Away inthe City of New York" is a plausible alternative to the pilot inwhich C dies of the original attack and her body is returned to herapartment (a la Walk Slowly) by a saddened but not devastated V, whonever really got to know her. C's death is then investigated byDiana, who thereby becomes the original Beauty, with significantdivergences, as a result, from how events developed in the pilot asshown. Also notable is "Vincent's Pride," in which C complains, toPeter, about her returning to the tunnels after years in the WitnessProtection Program's unwanted custody, to find that she'd roused morethan she bargained for in awakening Vincent's sexual propensities inthe Trilogy cave.
